GIREM, the Urban Planning and Real Estate Leadership Summit, concluded in Panaji on Saturday, September 20, after three days of open debate amongst real estate leaders at the Taj Exotica, Goa. The event, unique in its format, was much appreciated by over 200 delegates and renowned speakers. And on this occasion, Leadership Awards were given to 15 organizations for their Excellence and Best Practices in real estate, urban planning and development.
The speakers at the event included Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister for Urban Development, Som Mittal, President, Nasscom (who was also the chief guest), Digambar Kamat, Chief Minister of Goa, and various global leaders from the industry. The next GIREM summit, it was announced, would be held in Goa during 17 – 19 September, 2009. It’s a propriety event from Triple Tree Exhibitions and Sports Pvt Ltd.
Others who attended were Peter Barge Chairman, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels and CEO, JLL Asia Pacific and Jerry Koh, Partner, Allen & Gledhill LLP.

The summit included open discussion forums through various specialized platforms like Leadership Talk – talks by the gurus of urban planning and real estate; Leadership Focus –discussion forum on various business sectors; and Urban Planning -- panel discussions focused on critical matters of growth of urban India. The three- day summit also hosted Leadership Awards which felicitated the most coveted achievers of 2007 -08.
