Investment in India: Why?

India is shinning and how? As India’s economy grows by leaps and bounds, the international community is waking up to the endless opportunities in investment that India can offer. The second-fastest growing economy on the planet, it is brimming with investment opportunities. Just recently McKinsey Global Institute predicted that the average Indian's income will triple by 2025. Goldman Sachs predicts India will rise to be the third largest economy in the world by the year 2035. The country is set to capture 1% of global trade soon, while merchandise exports have grown an average of 24% a year over the past four years, according to Economy Watch.

Given this backdrop investors are queuing up to focus their investment plans in India. In fact India offers higher and better investment returns than its arch-rival China. Often every dollar put into India has earned a very good return (in cases more than 100 percent). Not surprisingly, according to a survey by global consultancy firm KPMG, India has emerged as a key foreign direct investment (FDI) destination as foreign investors earn higher returns in India than in other emerging markets.

Investment is tricky business. It can blow apart in your face if you are not careful. Thus it is crucial that you keep certain things in mind before investing in India or anywhere in the world. According to latest reports, India offers some terrific advantages in the region. The legal framework that protects investment is one of the best in Asia. The economy offers an abundance of technical and managerial talent, often with international experience. Geopolitical risk is diminishing consistently. And above all, India has a demographic advantage that should see its working-age population continue to grow well into the century, increasing wealth and reducing cost.
